YouTube, Snapchat, Gmail, and other Google services went down for more than four hours Sunday afternoon in the eastern United States.
The problem, due to “network congestion,” was resolved Sunday at 7:30 pm, said Google Alphabet inc. on its website. It had started four hours earlier, at 3:25 pm.
“We will conduct a post mortem and make appropriate improvements to our systems to prevent this from happening again,” says a Google spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. “We sincerely apologize to those that were impacted by today’s issues.”
Many Snapchat and YouTube users have complained of Twitter crashes under the hashtags #YouTubeDOWN and #snapchatdown.
